TRUE LOVE EXISTS – Altenew Alcohol Ink Wedding Card

Card by Linda Fields

I had the honor of creating this very special wedding card using Altenew products. The bride to be inspired me with her color palette of dark olive green and white. She also loves gold so I added some gilded thread and a wax seal to augment the pretty flowers. I set everything against a beautiful, alcohol ink painted backdrop for this dreamy, true love card.

Making The Card

COLOR INSPIRATION – For any of you who follow my work, I love making backdrops but making them with alcohol inks is up there in my top ten favorite things to create. I drew my inspiration from the wedding color palette.

ALCOHOL INK BACKDROP – I used Altenew Misty Morning and Dark Moss Alcohol Inks with rubbing alcohol and a felt pouncer. I developed a technique I like to call One Drop Corner Painting. Basically, I used 1 drop from each color into the opposite corners. I added one drop of rubbing alcohol at a time to dilute tiny sections after laying down my base colors. I used the air tool to create a soft, marbled backdrop.

DIMENSIONAL FLOWERS – I decided to showcase Altenew’s Craft-a-Flower Snowdrops Die set to make this card. The sweet flowers, one for the bride, the other for the groom, represent their deep love for each other for like the Snowdrop flowers, they’ll be sure to withstand any icy storm as long as they do it together. I cut the stems from sage green paper and used heavy, white cardstock for the petals. With a detail brush and Altenew’s Olove and Evergreen Fresh Dye Inks, I added soft gradient color.

DETAILS MATTER – I added a two inch wide piece of vellum down the middle of this A2 card. It helps to soften everything and add a focal point for the flowers without hiding all the stunning details. I wrapped olive green ribbon like a belly band with an overlay of gold thread. I made the wax seal and hand painted the heart with gold ink. I used double stick, foam and regular tapes plus glue to bring all the pieces together. I’ll be making a vellum envelope with a matching wax seal before mailing this beauty off, full of love, for the newlyweds.
